My Top Supplements (2023)

Supplements are a hot topic.

Which ones are a must buy? What company should you buy from? Which ones are worthwhile? Which ones are junk?

The answer, usually, is…it depends. A construction worker in Florida probably doesn’t need to supplement with Vitamin D3. But an office worker in Wisconsin? Probably.

Diet, personal goals, lifestyle factors, environmental factors, and personal physiology are just one of many variables to consider.

But with that said, here are 5 of my top supplements I’ve taken in the past year along with my why behind the decision!

Vitamin D3

According to Scientific American, 75% of teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. The downsides? Bone loss, depression, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and more.

Maybe it’s in my head but I feel like my mood is worse during winter months due to less sun exposure. I supplement with Vitamin D3 nearly year round to counteract this. I skip it on days I spend enough time outside.

Creatine

The supplement for “men” that everyone should take. Sure, it has benefits in the gym which is why it’s stereotypically mostly men who take it.

(More energy for your muscles, increased muscle growth and size, improved performance, better recovery, etc.)

But there’s increasing evidence that creatine can help prevent Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and ALS.

Crazy, right? Creatine isn’t for men. It’s for everyone.

Beef Bone Broth Protein

Whether you’re dieting to pack on muscle or burn excess belly fat, protein is king! Protein supplements can be a great way to help you hit your daily protein goal.

But if you’re like me, protein powders give you room clearing farts. Ask my wife lol.

After trying multiple brands and types of protein powders I thought I was out of luck until I found Bulk Supplements Beef Bone Broth Protein powder. It’s a whey free and savory alternative to your typical protein powders.

EAA

Without getting too into the details, EAAs are a must if you strength train fasted. To stimulate protein synthesis you need an essential amino acid (EAA) known as leucine which is primarily found in animal protein.

If you’re in a fasted state or it’s been a while since you’ve had a meal, you can supplement with EAAs instead of food protein for muscle protein synthesis. Combine the powder with some carbs, a drink like Body Armor works great, and drink it before you train.

Cod Liver/Fish Oil

Some of the stuff here is crazy.

High doses of fish oil lowering triglyceride levels by 20-30% according to an analysis of 17 randomized controlled trials.

Evidence that people with certain mental disorders have lower levels of Omega-3 fatty acids in their brain.

Supplementation was associated with “higher semen volume, higher total sperm count, a larger testis size, and a higher free testosterone to LH ratio compared to men with no supplement intake.” -@foundmyfitness

My Trusted Source

What company do I choose to buy from? Bulk Supplements.

They use pure, raw ingredients with no additives, flavorings, or fillers.

Each supplement is tested for purity by a 3rd party laboratory and certificates of analysis are available upon request.

The packaging isn’t flashy but the prices are some of the best you can find.
